Virginia Phelan Hitch, Ginger as she was known to everyone, age 79, of Seaford, DE, passed away at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. Virginia was born on September 24, 1943, in Whaleyville, MD, the daughter of the late George and Louise Phalen.
Virginia was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Seaford, DE. She worked for most of her life, she was employed for 32 years at A.I. DuPont, and she worked for 16 years with the USPS serving as the Postmaster at the Rhodesdale Maryland Post Office.
She was preceded in death by her previous husband, Fredrick Lewis, brothers, Dickie, David, and Patrick, and a great-granddaughter, Remi Lewis.
Virginia is survived by her husband, John Hitch Sr, son, Robert Lewis (April), stepson, John Hitch Jr, brother-in-law, William Hitch, grandchildren, Amanda Windsor, Diana Neal (Jason), Brittany Hitch, John Hitch III (Brandy), Corrinna Macedo (David), Rachel Windsor (Christian Lewis), Abigail Callahan, Donnie Windsor, and Daniel Windsor. As well as great-grandchildren, Tae Walker, Paislee Macedo, Charles Macedo, Jaggar Neal, and Rachael Windsor, great-great-grandson Cayden Lewis, as well as many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren through marriage.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM with a visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley St, Seaford, DE.
