VAUGHN ESHAM Obituary

Vaughn P. Esham (58) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford on June 1, 2019 after a very sudden, but brave battle with cancer.

Born in Milford, DE and raised in Seaford, Vaughn was the son of Delaware State Police officer, Jackson P. Esham, and loving mother, Kathryn. He grew up on a chicken farm where he learned the importance of hard work and also developed his love and passion for all animals. He went on to graduate from Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Coast Guard where he would retire after sustaining a critical injury. For the remainder of his life, Vaughn worked hard to conquer many skills including, but not limited to, marine mechanics, electrical work, carpentry, inventing, and entrepreneurship. He was truly a master of many trades.

Much of Vaughn’s life was also spent at his grandmother’s cottage in Fenwick Island, DE. This is where he developed a love for the water including fishing, crabbing, and watching the sunset from the dock on the bay. Vaughn was a man who enjoyed fixing things and solving any problem that was presented to him. His intelligent and intricate mind allowed him to excel in just about any job that he took on, and he would not stop until it was complete. Yet, he was still a simple man who enjoyed the little things in life and marched to the beat of his own drum.

Vaughn is preceded in death by his father, Jackson P. Esham and brother, Matthew L. Esham. He is survived by his mother, Kathryn L. Ewing, brother, Jeffrey G. Esham, and two deeply loved daughters, Tosha L. Esham and Nicole K. Esham. He also leaves behind six precious grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends who adored him including his lifelong friend and brother, Kenny Richardson.

A celebration of Vaughn’s life will be held Sunday, June 9th at 2:00 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Seaford, DE where visitation will also be held from 1:00-2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to either of the following organizations: St. John’s United Methodist Church or Delaware Hospice.
