Thomas "Buddy" Earl Mathis Jr.

Thomas “Buddy” Earl Mathis Jr., age 79, of Seaford, passed away peacefully at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital on January 31st, 2023. Born on August 19, 1943, he is the son of the late Thomas Mathis and Emma Stubbs Mathis.

Thomas was a retired land surveyor where he worked for many years.  He also owned the Burrsville General Store for a period of time.  He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, R. Jane Mathis, three sons, Thomas E. Mathis III of Denton, MD, Michael A. Mathis of Denton, MD, and Eric E. Mathis of New Castle, DE.  Additionally, he is survived by two brothers Frank O. Mathis of Cocoa Beach, FL and Arnold “Terry” Mathis of Vinton, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James N. Mathis and sister, Betty J. Dean.
