Ted M Mariner Sr, age 89, of Seaford, DE, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 24, 1934, in Bridgeville, DE, to the late Edward and Hazel Mariner.
Ted proudly served in the US Navy for 4 years on the USS Hazelwood (DD-531) during the Korean War. He retired from Delaware Electric Cooperative, where he worked as an Electrical Lineman for 40 years. After his retirement, Ted began working for the Nanticoke Senior Center, and volunteered for Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was also a member of the VFW in Seaford, where he served as Post Commander.
Ted had many hobbies; in his younger years he enjoyed roller skating and water skiing. Later in life his hobbies included fishing, spending time out on the boat, working on cars, showing Morgan Horses, and spending time with his dogs (Dobermans). Ted also had a love for archery, he was even the State Champion for multiple years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hazel Mariner, and a nephew, Scott Couch.
Ted is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joncy Mariner, daughter, Catherine Mariner, son, Ted Mariner Jr, six grandchildren, Phillip Mariner, Charles Jefferson, Allen Shulties, Natsumi Mariner, Aya Mariner, and Yukio Mariner, 7 great-grandchildren, and many dogs.
