Roger Nebel Obituary

Roger E. Nebel passed away at the age of 68 on April 24, 2023, after a long battle with COPD. He was born July 3, 1954, in Cheverly, Maryland and raised in Lanham, Maryland. He will be laid to rest in North Carolina with his mother and father Henry J. & Ruth A. Nebel.

He is survived by his brother Peter J. Nebel, his wife Cora, nephews James Nebel (Patricia) and Todd Nebel (Jennifer), a great nephew Tyler, a great niece Ryleigh and a few cousins. His half-brother, George Nebel preceded him in death. He is also survived by his closest and dearest friends Anna, Beverly, Lynne and Ernie.

He loved the solitude of being outdoors and hunting in his younger years. When he came to Delaware, he quickly became a pilar in our community. He helped build and establish what is now known as the ACE Peer Resource Center. He spent countless hours helping those less fortunate or displaced. Roger was always able to find what someone needed whether it was something to eat, a bus ticket to a job interview or a blanket. Roger was everyone’s go-to person. He will forever be remembered for his contagious smile, sense of humor and unselfish acts of kindness.

A celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers or donations Roger would want you to help someone in need. Give that person a bottle of water or buy them a meal. Roger’s motto “It doesn’t take much to make a big impact in someone’s life.” Or give to the American Lung Cancer Association in memory of Roger.
