Robert Taylor, age 85, of Seaford, DE, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2025, with his family at his side. Robert was born in Seaford on March 25, 1940, the son of the late Lloyd and Maud Taylor.
Robert was a member of the US Army Reserves. He worked for many years for the City of Seaford Electric Department, and went on to retire from the Delaware Electric Coop. He was the last member of his ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Group. Robert was an avid bowler, he spent many years bowling in leagues at Seaford Bowling Lanes, he participated in the International Family Bowling Tournament in Texas where he represented Delaware with his grandson.
Robert was a regular customer at Dunkin Donuts, where he considered himself their greatest contributor. He was on the founding committee of Nanticoke Young Life and was instrumental in getting the Girls World Series softball tournament to Sussex County. Robert was also a recent recipient of 50+ volunteer years with Little League including Nanticoke Little League and Little League World Series in Roxana, DE.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Short Taylor, and his parents Maude Taylor O’Neal and Lloyd Levin Taylor.
He is survived by his brother, James Taylor (Virginia), his children, Richard Kough (Pat), Byron Taylor (Vickie), Boyd Taylor (Lisa), Dauna Hearn (Gordon), and Julee Blankenship (Charles), his grandchildren, Jessica Jackson (Andy), Brad Taylor (Ashley), Chad Taylor (Tanya), Benjamin Hearn (Hannah), and Justin Taylor, and 6 great grandchildren.
An evening viewing will take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, between 6:00 and 8:00 PM, at Cranston Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM with a public viewing from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street, Seaford, DE. Following services, burial will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford.
