Robert L. “Bob” McIlvaine passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 with his wife and family by his side.
Born in Baltimore, Md, Bob was the son of the late James L. and Ethel L. McIlvaine (née Stone). He was the loving husband of Mary C. McIlvaine (née Rollyson) with whom he shared 32 years of marriage.
Bob was a 1965 graduate of City College in Baltimore. He was employed as a construction manager and inspector for the Maryland State Roads Commission for thirty years, retiring in 2010.
In his younger years, Bob enjoyed managing and playing in many softball leagues throughout Baltimore City and County. He was also a pro duckpin bowler for many years; and a huge horse racing fan, visiting tracks throughout the country. He was also an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. Bob and his wife, Mary, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Europe.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his brother, James McIlvaine (Susan); sisters, Mary Jo Wilhelm (Jerry) and Judy Moyer; brother-in-law, Jim Rollyson, and sister-in-law, Sandy Hall. He is also survived by five nieces, eight nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was pre-deceased by his niece, Tricia Senft.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
