Robert William McCarthy passed away on Friday, September 24th, 2021 at his parent’s home in Bethel, Delaware. He left us too soon after a courageous battle with a long illness. He was 44 years old.
Robert (Bobby) was born on October 19th, 1976, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He attended Freedom High School in Bethlehem and went on to college in Pennsylvania to become an Airframe and Powerplant Technician. He began his career at Piedmont Airlines in Salisbury, Maryland. He went on to obtain a degree in engineering at Delaware Technical Community College, after which he went to work for ILC Dover as a Design Engineer. He loved his job and his work family. Robert was happiest when he was spending time with his family. He could often be found tinkering in the back yard, and fixing things. He was a mechanical genius and could fix anything! He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed hiking and camping, sitting by a fire, or on the porch watching a thunderstorm.
