Richard Allen Beauchamp was born on October 21, 1948, in Milford, DE to his parents, Sherman and Ruth Beauchamp of Bridgeville. Richard is best known to all of his friends as "Dick" or "Dickie" Beauchamp. Richard attended Bridgeville High School and graduated in 1966. He played football and basketball in school. After graduation Richard joined the Coast Guard. He did a tour off the coast in Africa while he served. During his time in the Coast Guard Richard reconnected with Sharon Short and they kept in touch while he was away. Upon his discharge in 1970 he and Sharon got married June 12, 1970. They welcomed a daughter in July of 1973 and a few years later they welcomed another daughter in November 1975.
Richard worked at Baltimore Trust Company, Greenwood Trust Company, and eventually Discover Bank after they bought out Greenwood Trust, where he worked as Vice President. After retiring from Discover Bank, Richard took his knowledge of home improvement and put them to use. He was a jack of trades, serving many of his customers with wonderful craftsmen work.
Throughout all his years, Richard volunteered for Woodbridge Little League umpiring many of the girls softball games. Richard was an avid Kiwanian for 35+ years, cooking at the Bridgeville BBQ on Rt. 404, putting his touch on that delicious BBQ chicken. Richard volunteered for many things in his community including putting flags up for Apple Scrapple, putting up Christmas lights, and the Veteran flags. He was an avid member Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, serving on many committees. Richard was also a bowler out of Milford Bowling Lanes in the Harrington Business Men's League on Tuesday night, and in those times bowled a 300 a few years ago.
Richard took great care in tending his garden at his house, giving vegetables to all his family and friends along with planting flowers in the front of his walkway with his granddaughter Kennedy.
Richard is survived by a wife, Sharon Beauchamp, of 52 years, daughter Michele Beauchamp and significant other Joseph Brown, daughter Kristen Beauchamp and fiance Carl Acton. He is survived by his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Steelman and significant other Andre Fonville along with two beautiful great granddaughters, Kennedy and Aubrey Fonville. He is also survived by his granddaughter Abigail Justice, who is following in his footsteps in bowling. Richard is survived by his sister, Carol Ann Miller from Bridgeville, along with his nephew Timothy and niece Tammy. Richard is survived by his pet Bella, who was his buddy, taking walks with her every day when the weather was nice.
Services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Union United Methodist Church with the viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with services directly after at 1:00 p.m.
