ROBERT "BOB" YOUNG

Robert ‘Bob’ Young, 67, passed away on September 2, 2021 with his family at his side.  Bob was born in Albany, New York and raised in Massachusetts, but lived with his family in Seaford, Delaware for the past 34 years.  He retired in 2014 from Johnson Wax (later BASF) after 40 years.  During his life, he was the Cub Scout Master for Troop 249, a Nanticoke Youth Soccer League coach, a member of Seaford Golf and Country Club (later Hooper’s Landing Golf League) and a founding member of the Nine Pieces of Eight.  Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Trevor, and his wife, Allie; daughter, Dana, her husband, Taylor, and their son, Miles; his brother, Dick; his sister, Pat McKinney; and countless friends.  Bob is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Dorothy, and his close friend, Steve Edmondson.       

Bob had it all figured out and lived every day to be happy.  He loved golf, cars, motorcycles, his garage, happy hour, fireworks, and music.  Bob was a friend to all and was always the life of the party.  He was known for his warm smile and being able to fix anything.  Besides his family, Bob’s favorite accomplishment was the hole in one he shot at golf league.  Bob was a true legend.  Bob’s family was his world.  He was devoted to his wife, Barbara, of 37 years.  Bob raised his kids to understand that life is meant to be enjoyed and encouraged them to follow their dreams.  He was fiercely proud of his son, Trevor, and daughter, Dana.  His children’s weddings were two of his favorite days.  Bob fought cancer for his last 6 years to be here for his family and his grandson, Miles.  Bob loved playing in the ‘water dragon’ (sprinkler) with his grandson and refurbishing old toys for him.  He was the best ‘Bob-Bob’ a kid could have. 

There will be a celebration of life at Blades Fire Hall on Thursday, September 9, 2021.  Doors will open at 2 pm with the service starting at 3 pm.  We welcome guests to stay after for a reception.  Light refreshments and cash bar.
