REBECCA "BECKY" KRIPAITIS Obituary

Rebecca (Becky) Ann Kripaitis passed away peacefully on January 6, 2021.  She was 54.   Becky was born on July 15, 1966 in Seaford, DE.   She loved her family and extended family of caregivers unconditionally and showered them all with kisses and the best hugs ever.  Becky had a child-like demeanor and loved babies, anything that was pink, Disney princesses, Barbie dolls, a fresh pack of crayons and chocolate ice cream.

Becky was born with Down Syndrome.  Her parents and siblings embraced her disability and included her in many of their activities, resulting in her being very well known and loved in the Seaford community.  Becky attended the Howard T. Ennis school in Georgetown, DE.  She graduated in 1987 and then traveled all over the country with her parents in their travel trailer.

She was an athlete in Special Olympics, starting with track and field, and moving on to bowling and then her true passion - swimming.  She won many medals and loved to show them off.  Becky was also a volunteer for Nanticoke hospital, accumulating 5000+ hours.  Her father Robert was her companion through all her volunteer days delivering newspapers, stuffing envelopes, and delivering roses on Valentine’s Day.   She brought a smile to many people at the hospital.  Bible School for Special People (BSSP) was another favorite social activity for Becky.  BSSP is held at the Seaford Christ Lutheran church and provides social interaction and religious activities for special needs people.  Becky loved to go every Saturday and when the Christmas program came along she loved to sing Silent Night.  She was an angel on earth with a gentle, kind and innocent personality - everyone who knew her was glad that she was part of their life.

She is preceded in death by her loving father, Robert N. Kripaitis.  She leaves behind her devoted mother, Carolyn Frame Kripaitis of Seaford; her siblings Kevin Joseph Kripaitis (wife Vicki Bush Kripaitis), Barbara Ann Holstein (husband Horst Holstein), Paula Kripaitis Neely (husband Richard A Neely, Jr), Lisa Schappell-Parsons (husband Thomas Parsons), Maria Kripaitis Rauba (husband Vytas Rauba), Robert Grant Kripaitis, and Michael John Kripaitis; and she was proud to be Aunt Becky to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St. in Seaford on Monday 1/18/21 from 6-8pm.  A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church in Seaford on Tuesday, 1/19/21 at 11am.  Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans cemetery in Millsboro, DE at 2pm on Friday, 1/22/21.  Once the virus is under control the family will schedule a celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Down Syndrome Foundation in Becky’s name to support further research.  A donation can be made online at https://www.globaldownsyndrome.org/ (email notification can be sent to maria.rauba@gmail.com).
