R. Byron Palmer, age 88, of Seaford, DE passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016.

          Byron was born in Rehoboth and grew up in Seaford.  He graduated from Seaford High School, attended the University of Delaware.  He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.  He owned and operated Soil Service in Seaford, a family business serving the local agricultural community.  He was an active lifelong member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Seaford for over 50 years.  He served on the Wilmington Trust Co. Advisory Board, was a member of the Delaware State Personnel Commission and served his country as an officer in the Army National Guard.

          He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Phyllis O. Palmer, 2 sons, Ralph Palmer (Bev) and Charles Palmer (Danna), grandchildren, Adam (Hannah), Jackie, Thad (Casey) and Kyle.  His grandson, Cory Palmer (USMC) died in Iraq in 2006.

          A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 9th at 1 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Pine & Poplar Sts, Seaford, where friends may call from12 to 1. 

          In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St, Seaford, DE 19973.
