Peggy Farmer Obituary

Today, we honor the remarkable life of Peggy Farmer. Born on March 2, 1942, Peggy embraced life to the fullest until she returned to her heavenly home on May 31, 2025.

Known affectionately as Peg or Miss Peg by many, she took immense pride in the experiences encapsulated by the dash between her birth and passing. Her family held a special significance in her heart—though not solely by blood, she considered anyone she encountered who became dear to her as part of her family.

Peggy dedicated countless years to serving as a Girl Scout Leader in Seaford, she ran the concession stand for the Band Boosters for the Blue Jay Marching Band, and she left a lasting impact on the lives of many people. She also spent many years working at Woolworth's, Uncle Willie's, and Nanticoke Hospital.

Wherever she went, Peggy was known for her warm greetings and cheerful wishes for everyone she met. Her concern extended beyond her immediate circle; she cared deeply for her family, friends, church community, and even strangers who crossed her path.

Her infectious smile and the sparkle in her eye were unmistakable. Many will remember her for her unique spirit and the way she danced to her own rhythm.

Peggy found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially in vibrant colors. She was the only person who would don a purple dress just to stand out among neutral attire during wedding photos. Her love for yard sales was legendary; she had a knack for spotting treasures that others didn’t even know they needed—90% of the time, she was spot on.

The years she spent nurturing her four daughters and later helping to guide her grandchildren were among her most cherished. Just last week, she expressed, “I hope I was a good mom. It was all I really wanted to be.”

Peggy is survived by her three daughters, Christy Silverstein (Louis), Johanna Benton (John), and Rachel Fields (Todd), 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Farmer, her daughter, Tracey Miller, her great granddaughter, Josephine West, her sister, Judith Chapman, and her brother, Donald James.
