Patricia “Pat” Ann Brackett, age 78, a woman of grace, strength and boundless love passed away peacefully June 17, 2026, in Seaford, DE. She was born on Aug 18, 1947, the daughter of the late Clarkson and Arlene Charles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a beautiful heart and a smile that would light up any room.
Pat was a 1965 graduate of Boonsboro Senior High where she met the love of her life, the late James (Mickey) Brackett. Pat married Mickey in 1967 and built a life filled with love, laughter and deep devotion to family, they were married 56 years.
She enjoyed a long career as secretary for UAW Local 171 in Hagerstown, Md. where she retired in 2012, after retirement the beach was calling their name. Millsboro, Del is where they called home to be close to everything the family enjoyed on vacations.
Pat had a love for the ocean with lots of fun filled beach days and crab feasts to follow, and her greatest joy was family. Never did she miss a Cub Scout event, basketball game or dance recital.
She also enjoyed spending time with her brother Buzz and sister-in-law Bonnie. Buzz recently took Pat on a wonderful trip to Massachusetts to visit with their sister MarySue and family, which meant the world to her.
Pat is survived by her beloved daughter, Angela Cascone (Chris), grandson, Jon Shimer III, granddaughter, Julia Foskey (Ryan), sister, MarySue Beverage, brother, Clarkson “Buzz” Charles (Bonnie). She is also survived by friends, Jon Shimer Jr, Mrs. Ruth Brackett, Bunny and Jeff Parks, and Keith and Lisa Mcallister.
“Her love and laughter will live in our hearts forever.”
As per Mom and Dad’s wishes, a joyful picnic will be planned at a later date.
