Phyllis O’Day Palmer, age 93, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Phyllis was born and grew up in Seaford, graduated from Seaford High School and Wesley College. She and her husband and two sons owned and operated Soil Service in Seaford, a family business serving the local agricultural community. She was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for over 70 years, serving in many areas. She was also a long time member of the Seaford Acorn Club and the Soroptomist Club and was a strong supporter of the Seaford District Library. As her children were growing up she worked with Nanticoke Little League, Cub Scouts, and Sunday School.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Byron Palmer and her grandson, Marine Sgt. Cory L. Palmer. She is survived by her two sons Ralph Palmer (Bev) and Charles Palmer (Danna), grandchildren Adam (Hannah), Jackie, Thad (Casey), and Kyle Palmer and great-grandchildren Caleb, Jacob, and Willa.
Due to safety concerns in this time of Covid 19, there will be no funeral. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 300 N. Pine St., Seaford, DE. 19973.
