NORA LEE CALLAWAY

 Nora Lee Callaway, age 99, of Seaford, DE passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018.

          Nora was born the daughter of the late Walter and Effie Layton on the family farm on Fire Tower Rd, between Laurel and Concord. She graduated from Laurel High School, class of 1936. She then graduated Nurses Training as an RN from Delaware Hospital, Wilmington, DE, class of 1940.  She worked 10 years at Richardson Park and Henry C. Conrad High School in Wilmington.  She worked 18 racing seasons at Delaware Park Race Track in Stanton, DE in the first Aide station.  She also did private duty nursing until her retirement in 1976.

          Nora’s husband, Paul F. Callaway died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by 4 siblings, Edna Allen, Everett Layton, Gray Layton and Ruth Dean.                                                                                                       She is survived by 3 children, Bruce Callaway, Paula Baker and Robin Callaway, 3 grandchildren, Melissa Adams, Matthew Callaway and Paul Baker, 2 great-grandchildren, Greydn Callaway, and Jackson Adams and a brother, Alfred R. Layton.

          Funeral Services will be on Saturday, May 5th at Noon at the Sailor’s Bethel United Methodist Church, 7752 Main Ave, Bethel, DE, where friends may call from 11 to 12.  Burial will be in Sailor’s Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
