NOLAN PASE, JR. Obituary

Nolan S. “Butch” Pase, Jr., age 69, of Bridgeville, DE passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021.

Growing up in Seaford, Nolan began earning income very early by raising livestock, planting soybeans, and the like.  In his teens he worked as a Boy Scout Camp counselor and became an Eagle Scout.

Nolan was a 1970 graduate of Seaford Senior High School.  He joined the Army in 1971 and served as a medic in Vietnam.  In only six months, before he was injured and sent stateside, he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and qualified as an M-16 Rifle Expert.  Following his Vietnam service, he was a medical laboratory specialist.

Nolan became a Registered Nurse in 1995 and worked for several years at Eastern Correctional Institute, where he was the first-line care link for inmates.

Later, he was the Night Nurse as well as the Patient Care Facilitator at McCready Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Crisfield for several years and saved many lives.  He was compassionate as a nurse even though he was such a physically powerful figure.

His unfortunate auto accident in 2013 led to a decrease in his mobility and forced him to retire from nursing, which he so loved.

He was known as a weapons expert, and numerous police officers and other gun enthusiasts would consult with him about a proposed purchase or other gun-related questions.

Nolan had a very interesting life, with diverse experiences, and he was a wonderful storyteller.

He is preceded in death by his father, Nolan S. “Bud” Pase, Sr. and his mother, Ruth (Obier) Pase.  He is survived by his sister, Judith Murphy (Steve), and their children and grandchildren.

He will be sorely missed by his many friends.

A memorial service will be held at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley Street, Seaford, on Thursday, August 5, where family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation from 1 to 2 and funeral service beginning at 2.

He will be inurned, in a brief military ceremony, on Friday, August 6 at 2 PM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.  All are welcome to attend.
