Morgan Amaimo II Obituary

Morgan L. Amaimo 2nd passed away October 23, 2024, from multiple health complications.  He was 77 years old.

Morgan was a Baltimore native and fully participated in city life.  He graduated from City College in 1964, earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1969 and a master’s degree in public administration in 1977 from the University of Baltimore.  He was an Orioles and Ravens fan.  He loved to travel with his wife and visit his second home in the Bethany Beach, Delaware area.

He had a varied career which included encouraging many students in the Maryland Prison System and Baltimore City Jail to earn their GED where he taught for two years.  He moved on to work with the City of Baltimore, Department of Finance.   Later, as the Chief Development Officer for the Department of Parks and Recreation, he was proud of his contributions to the development of city recreation facilities including the Mount Pleasant Ice Arena, Canton Waterfront Park, and Druid Hill Park Golf Course, to name a few.  He learned first-hand how the Outward-Bound Program could contribute positively to the lives of young people and went on to support the development of the Carrie Murray Outdoor Education Center.  He also served as Chief of Parks for Howard County for two years.

One of the projects closest to his heart was the Baltimore Rowing & Water Resource Center where he and his wife, Marcia Amaimo, were married in 1988.

When he completed his government service, he went on to become an Associate Real Estate Broker and Appraiser until his retirement.

Morgan loved to see how the many city projects with which he was associated and his real estate work positively impacted people.  He believed he could help people buy a house and they would make it a home.  Morgan earned the friendship of many clients and work associates.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia of Towson, his sister-in-law Paula Goodreau of Delaware, nieces Claire Guzinski Wiseman (husband Ryan) of Colorado, Lauren Guzinski Bailey (husband Bradley) of Washington State, cousins in California and Texas, and many wonderful friends and former co-workers.

A remembrance gathering will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, 2 – 4 p.m. at the Roland Park Community Center, 5802 Roland Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21210

Donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Maryland SPCA.
