Michael John Fagan

Michael John Fagan, affectionately known to many as “the Iron Man,” passed away peacefully, June 28, 2026.

Born on July 22, 1946, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Michael possessed a vibrant personality and a creative mind that lent itself to fantastic storylines, quick wit, and a perpetual readiness to share a joke. He truly loved to laugh and bring joy to those around him.

Michael served his country in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster, a chapter of his life that included memorable overseas assignments navigating the Mediterranean. Following his military service, Michael explored various professional paths, but the most fitting was his time spent as a Disc Jockey at the Berkeley Springs radio station, WDHC 92.9. Blessed with an appealing, resonant voice and a natural charisma perfect for the airwaves, he later channeled his talents into professional voice-over work for commercials.

Among his greatest passions in life was his unwavering love for baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers. A lifetime fan, Michael’s loyalty began in his youth, listening to games over a tube radio when the franchise was still the Brooklyn Dodgers, and he remained a passionate supporter to this day.

Michael spent many years in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, where he raised his two sons with Janet Fagan. He was a wonderful, deeply loved father who was profoundly involved in his sons' lives and sports, most memorably coaching and supporting them in Little League baseball. His son Eric fondly treasures a joyful memory of receiving a proud kiss on the head from his dad after hitting a home run—a testament to Michael's warm and encouraging spirit.

Later in life, drawn by his love for the ocean, Michael moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, and eventually settled in Seaford, Delaware, with his beloved wife, Jacklyn Dawn (Smelser) Fagan.

Michael is survived by a large and loving family who will miss him dearly, including his devoted wife, Jacklyn (Smelser) Fagan; his eldest son, Sean Fagan of Land O Lakes, Florida and wife Lori, along with grandsons Jared Fagan and Brady Fagan; his youngest son, Eric Fagan of Lothian, Maryland and wife Anna, along with grandson Jackson Fagan; his step sons Stephen Kuykendall, Martinsburg, WV and David Kuykendall, Shippensburg, PA, his sisters, Susan Fagan of Westerville, Ohio, Mary Ann Kraemer married to Joe Couey of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, and Kate Fagan from Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania; and many other cherished family members and lifelong friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 07 at 11AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford, Delaware.
