Mark J. Smith, Sr., age 61, beloved husband, dad, and pop pop, passed away on the morning of January 28, 2026.
Mark was a hard worker in every sense of the word. He worked tirelessly in his shop, dedicating his hands, heart, and strength to providing for his family. His work ethic was not just what he did—it was who he was. He worked not for recognition, but out of love—for his family, for providing, for doing his part. Much of what they have and who they are exists because of his sacrifice, his long days, and his unwavering sense of responsibility. As a father, he gave everything he had.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Deanna Smith, his other half, the one who knew him best and loved him longest. She was his constant, his comfort, and his strength—the person he built his life around and never walked alone without.
Mark is also survived by his loving children, Troy Smith (Hailey Smith) and Kimberly Barron (Benjamin Barron), who were the pride of his life. Though he was predeceased by his son, Mark Smith, II, they are now together again, side by side at the shop doing what they loved - working, laughing and bickering.
Mark leaves behind four grandchildren, Blakely Smith, Kayson Smith, Jayley Smith and Lily Barron, who brought endless joy to his life.
Though his hands are now at rest, the life he built and the love he gave will continue to carry his family forward. Though they were not ready to say goodbye, they are grateful beyond words for the time they shared.
In the end, his greatest work was not done in the shop, but in the life he built with his other half—a love that carried him through every season and will live on forever.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with a public viewing from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street, Seaford, DE. Burial will be private at a later day.
