MARY ASSELIN Obituary

Mary Caroline Webster Asselin died of complications of Dementia peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on November 12, 2019.

Mary worked at DuPont for several years, then worked at Sears catalog dept. in Seaford until she retired. After retiring she enjoyed holiday seasonal work at Tull's in Seaford.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, and exercising at the Senior Center. She was lovingly referred to as "The General" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary loved spending nice summer days at the beach. But most important to her was time spent with family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Roland G. Asselin and grandson Jason Hedges.

She is survived by daughters Sharon Hedges (Howard) of Seaford, Pamela Redmond of Smyrna and son Jeffrey W. Asselin (Angela) of Charleston, SC. Also survived by her grandchildren Julie Olson-Vogel (William), Shiela Shields (Martin), Matthew B. Scotti (Judie), Andrew D. Scotti, Erin R. Scotti and Christopher E. Asselin. She was blessed with 4 great grandchildren Cody Olson, Noah Smith, Amber Wechtenhiser, and Brianna Morrison. In addition a great great grandchild Abby Wechtenhiser.

Visitation is from 6-8pm Monday November 18, 2019 at Cranston Funeral Home 300 N. Shipley St. Seaford, DE

Mass will be held at 11am Tuesday November 19,2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 532 E. Stein Highway Seaford DE followed by the burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetary in Blades DE

Mary's family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice Care, her nurse Stacey Powell and aide LaShonda who so wonderfully cared for her. A special thanks to Kelsey Smith and Jean Murray for their companionship, help and relief for Julie Olson- Vogel while she was caring for her
