LOUIS "LOU" OLIVER BOWDEN

Louis Oliver “Lou” Bowden of Seaford passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 29th at home supported in person and spirit including his beloved dog Prince.

Lou was born on September 27th, 1935 in Bridgeville, Delaware to the late Arcy Bowden and Anna Bowden. He was the oldest of seven children.

He attended Bridgeville High School class of 1957. One of his many jobs was working at the former Woolworth where he met his wife, and in his later years after 29 years of service retired from The DuPont Plant as a supervisor.

But even in his retired years he stayed busy with Bowden’s Lawn and Garden and driving a school bus for Sussex Technical High School.

Lou was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge for many years.

Lou was a man that everyone knew. He will be dearly missed by many.

His wife, Roberta Ann “Bobbie” Bowden died on October 9th, 2018.   He is survived by his son Raymond Bowden and daughter Christina Whaley (Kenny); a sister Anna Mae Calloway (David); Ruthe Matthews (Fred); and Connie Matthews. He had 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John Bowden and Jimmy Bowden and his sister Bonnie Bowden.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, June 7th at 1 PM at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford, where friends may call on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 and Monday from 12 to 1.  Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
