June Wainwright VanVorst

June Wainwright VanVorst, age 95, passed away at home on Thursday, June 6, 2024.  Born in Reliance on June 15, 1928, to James Wainwright and Nettie Mills Wainwright.

June was married to Nelson VanVorst for 46 years until his passing. They were both employed at the DuPont Plant in Seaford, DE.

In addition to her parents and husband, June is preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands: Margaret Wainwright Turnbull (John) and Elizabeth Wainwright Ellis (A’Delbert), a brother, Silas Wainwright (Frances), a niece Diana Ellis Halpen (Al), and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

June is survived by two nephews, James Ellis (Sue) and Clayton Wainwright (Barbara). In addition, she is survived by Jimmy Ellis and Renee, Tammy Ellis, Stephanie Antal (Justin, and daughter Zoey), sister-in-law, Norma VanVorst Warner (Alvin), brothers-in-law, James VanVorst (Myra) and Robert VanVorst (Gladys), and numerous nieces and nephews.

June wanted it to be noted that she is also survived by her favorite pet, her cat, Booty. Booty is being housed and cared for by Dr. Dykstra and staff at Eastern Shore Animal Hospital.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM with a public viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street, Seaford, DE.  Immediately following the service burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford, DE.
