Joseph V Amato

Joseph V. Amato, age 80, of Seaford, DE, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024. He was born on April 18, 1944, in Bronx, NY to the late Vincent and Grace (Russo) Amato.

Joe married his wife Estelle A. Hoehn in 1964, their son Stephen was born in 1966, and they moved to Danbury, CT in 1970.   Joe worked in Sanitation for the Town of Harrison, NY for almost 40 years, which he retired from in 2000. Upon retirement Joe and Estelle moved to Seaford, DE in 2001.

Joe was a very active member of the Church of Christ First in Danbury and then at Seaford Church of Christ. He enjoyed remodeling, fishing, and target practice at the shooting range. He kept busy with mowing the neighbors’ lawns as well as the church lawn for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Estelle Amato, son, Stephen Amato and his wife Yana of New Milford, CT and their children, Tyler Amato (25), Kayla Murphy (26), Staci Sullivan (31), and Josh Heafey (30).

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Grace Amato, his sisters, Patricia, Marie, and Elaine, and his brother, Vincent.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Seaford Church of Christ
