Joannie Ann O'Neal Marvel

Joannie Ann O’Neal Marvel - Of Seaford passed away after a brief illness July 14, 2022. Born (July 22, 1945) at home and raised in Laurel, Delaware.  She spent much of her life on chicken farms as a wife, mother, and providing care for children of many local families at all times of the days, nights, and weekends. While raising her four sons she spent many hours volunteering with the Seaford Little League.  Joannie always had the grandchildren at the farm and in the summertime pool with lots of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  She enjoyed family dinners and holidays with her Sussex County slippery dumplings, baked macaroni and cheese, coconut cakes, and chocolate peanut butter eggs.  

            Joannie is preceded in death by her parents Virgie and Edward O’Neal. Sister Delores, Brothers Ernest, Donald Lee, and David O’Neal.  Her loving husband of 41 years David and son Robert T. Marvel.  She is survived by sister Loretta Davis of Gastonia, N.C., brother Edward O’Neal of Millsboro.  Sons David (Linda) of Lincoln, Nehemiah of Delmar, and Sidney of Seaford. Grandchildren Sidney, Corey, Lindsay, Steven, Jasmine, Kayla, and Kylie. Numerous nieces and nephews and her CHEER aides Annie and Jean.

            Joannie will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. Her infectious kindness, good humor, warm laughs, and love will continue to live in the hearts of her loved ones.  

            A celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20th at 11:00 am at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford, DE.
