Joan E Biondo

Joan E. Biondo (92) of Kearny and Point Pleasant, NJ died on May 30, 2024, at Lofland Park Center in Seaford, DE.

Joan was born in Newark, NJ on May 31, 1931 to Joseph and Oradella Timlin. She graduated from Kearny High School, earned an RN degree from East Orange General Hospital School of Nursing, a BA from Jersey City State College and her Masters degree from Monmouth College. Joan married the love of her life, David Biondo in 1953 and they shared 40 wonderful years together until Dave’s death in 1993. Joan and Dave raised two children and enjoyed many adventures together traveling and camping.  Joan worked briefly at Point Pleasant Hospital followed by 30 years as a school nurse in the Point Pleasant Borough, NJ school system. 

Joan loved spending time at the ocean and in the mountains, and she cherished her memories of spending summers camping with Dave in the Catskills.  She is remembered for her passion for seeing the world;  she traveled all over the US and enjoyed multiple trips abroad with family and close friends.

Joan was a very active member of St. Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ where she served on the altar guild, was a eucharistic visitor and served on the vestry.  She was a volunteer at St Gregory’s Pantry, the Asbury Park Soup Kitchen, Central N.J. Caregivers, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Ocean County Library Services for the Homebound.

Joan is survived by her children; Debra Kling (James) of Bridgeville, DE and Mark Biondo (Cindy) of Colorado Springs, CO; her five grandchildren: David Biondo of Denver, Co; Rachel Kling of Huntington Beach, CA; Susan Shelters (Steven) of Wasilla, AK; Lauren Kling of Somerville, MA; and Vincent Biondo of Colorado Springs, CO and her two great-grandsons: Dillon and Derek Shelters.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church, 804 Bay Ave, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at St Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church, 804 Bay Ave, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742.
