Jackie Kenneth Chaffinch passed away at Blades Fire Department on December 8, 2023.
Known as Jack, Mr. Chaffinch was born in Seaford, Delaware on September 4, 1953, to the late Mary Chaffinch and Earnest Chaffinch.
Mr. Chaffinch was a dedicated lifetime member of Blades Fire Department where he recently celebrated serving 50 years. Much of his time with the Blades Fire Department was serving his community as a Cheif Engineer. Mr. Chaffinch enjoyed collecting guns, working on fire apparatuses and lawnmowers. In his spare time, Mr. Chaffinch enjoyed hunting, attending community functions, dancing, socializing at the fire company and spending time with his two grandsons.
Mr. Chaffinch is survived by his sister Gladys Graham and husband Ken, two brothers Howard Chaffinch and Pete Chaffinch, longtime companion Patricia Cooney, daughter of the heart Julie Ignotis and husband Joseph, two grandsons Weston Cooney and Waylon Ignotis, lifetime best friend Donnie Trice and wife Lianne. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters of the Blades Fire Department and other community fire departments which he served and worked with throughout his lifetime. He was loved and treasured by many and will be missed by those whose lives he touched.
Cranston Funeral Home of Seaford, Delaware has handled most arrangements during this difficult time. However, because Jack is going home to meet our Lord in the time honored First Responder tradition, viewing will not be at the funeral home.
Jack's viewing will be on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm at the Blades Volunteer Fire Company at 200 E 5th street in Blades, DE with funeral services following viewing.
Internment will then be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford, Delaware.
After internment, you are invited back to the Blades Volunteer Fire Company to celebrate Jack's life.
