John Francis Garris, Jr.

      John ‘Jack’ Garris, Jr., age 85, of Hurlock, MD passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Tidal Health PRMC in Salisbury, MD.

    Jack was born in Southern Pines, NC on October 13, 1935 but grew up in Hurlock, MD. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957, when he was honorably discharged.

    Jack was preceded in death by his mother Margaret Collins Garris and brother Donald Garris. He is survived by his only daughter, Vicki O’Bier and her spouse, Ronald O’Bier of Seaford, DE, granddaughter Melinda Dubinski and spouse, Patrick Dubinski and granddaughter Brooke O’Bier, all of Seaford, DE. He is also survived by two great grandsons, Owen and Wyatt and special friends David ‘Wayne’ Wroten of Seaford, DE and Al Collins of Hurlock, MD.

      Jack worked at DuPont for much of his life until he retired in the early 1990’s. In recent years he has enjoyed spending time with family, especially his great grandsons and having Thursday morning breakfast with friends at Mom & Pops Restaurant.

    Services are in the care of Cranston’s Funeral Home. A private ceremony for family will occur at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.
