James Edward Roe Messick, of Seaford, Delaware, passed away on August 22, 2022. James, AKA Jamie or J.Roe, was born at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE on September 25, 1984. He was a bright and inquisitive child who grew into a bright, inquisitive man.
James attended Seaford Christian Academy and graduated in 2002. He earned an accountant degree from Delaware Technical Community College, but had a love for marketing and sales which he pursued. He was an avid sports fan, excelling in baseball and basketball from which he earned many awards. His love for music drew him to learn to play guitar. He played in numerous bands within the church including St. John's United Methodist Church, but especially loved “jam” sessions with his friends. His love for humanity was endless, and lived in such a way that his memory will forever live in the hearts and lives he touched.
James is survived by his Mother, Julie A Messick of Seaford, Father, Mark B. Messick of Salisbury, two Sisters Emily Elizabeth Roe Messick and Amy Lou Messick of Seaford, Grandmother, Donna Roe of Seaford, Uncle, David Roe, Aunt, Carole Roe, Cousin, David Roe of Dagsboro, Uncle Sterling Messick of Salisbury, Uncle, Chris Williamson, Aunt, Barbara Williamson of Florida, Cousin, Nick Williamson of Florida, and Cousin, Luke Williamson of Maryland. He was preceded in death by Grandfather Hayward (Bunky) Roe of Seaford, Grandfather, William (Bill) Messick and Grandmother, Margaret (Peggy) Messick of Seaford.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 12 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Pine & Poplar Sts, Seaford, where friends may call from 11 to 12. Burial will be in East New Market Cemetery, East New Market, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to the Fisher of Men Foundation (fisherofmenfoundation.org).
