Elsie Jane Howeth passed away at Lofland Park Center, Seaford, DE, on Sunday, July 31, 2022, after a long illness.
Elsie was a native of Salisbury, MD. She was born on October 12, 1945, in Crisfield, MD. She was the daughter of the late William E. Howeth and Sarah Peyton (Hickman) Howeth.
Elsie graduated from Wicomico Senior High School, Salisbury, MD in 1963 and retired from the State of Maryland Unemployment Division after many years of service.
Elsie loved to play Mahjong and bingo and she enjoyed going to the beach. She was devoted to her dogs Maxi and Mindy, who pre-deceased her.
Besides her parents, Else was preceded in death by her brother, William (Buddy) Howeth of California and her close cousins Rose Ann Hinman of Crisfield, MD and Patsy Mears of Pocomoke City, MD.
Elsie is survived by her sister Billie R. Wheatley (Frank) of Seaford, DE, and nephews Frank Wheatley, Jr. of Salisbury, MD, Rick Wheatley (Trudy) of Seaford, DE, Rick’s children Taylor Wheatley of Weeki Wachee. FL, Gage Wheatley of Seaford, DE, and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5120 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cranston Funeral Home of Seaford, DE. Services will be conducted at a later date.
