Eleanor Lister Hickey

Eleanor Lister Hickey, aged 96, a lifelong resident of Seaford, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 20, 2023.  She was involved in many activities during her lifetime including being active with Mt. Olivet Church, the Acorn Club, the Alumni Association and was a Realtor Emeritus with the Delaware Association of Realtors.  She was employed by Robinson Real Estate for more than 40 years helping many acquire homes and becoming their friends in the process.  She was a Seaford Greeter, and enjoyed welcoming newcomers to the city that she loved.   She enjoyed playing bridge and making various beautiful handmade items.

She was a letter writer, sending many notes of encouragement to friends and family early in the mornings.  She inscribed the church records with her beautiful script.  Most of all she was a loving and devoted mother to her six children, Guy (Cindy), Jill (David), Susan (her partner, John), Donna (Leo), Keith (Susie) and Teddy (Susan).  She was a kind and caring “Nana” to her 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Eleanor and her husband Edmund celebrated 77 years of marriage prior to his passing in March of 2022. 

We are so thankful for the example she set for all of us to follow.  She will be forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on June 10th at 2:00 at Mt. Olivet Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made to the Mt. Olivet UMC general fund 315 High Street, Seaford, DE 19773.
