Daniel Wayne Simancek, Sr., 71, passed away on January 5, 2023, in Seaford, Delaware, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 11, 1951, to the late Walter and Elnora Simancek (née Kulikowski), of Baltimore, Maryland.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Theresa (née Snyder) of 37 years; His children, Christina Simancek Roberts, RN., SFC Daniel Simancek, Jr., USA Retired, and daughter-in-law, Jessika Simancek (née Bullard); His grandchildren; Mariah, Jacob, Katie, Luke, Jonah, and twins Sly and Jax. His siblings; Diana Devine (née Simancek) and James Maclay, Steven Simancek, Valerie Sapia (née Simancek), Pamela Simancek, James and Donna Regester (nee Simancek), Anthony and Carolyn Simancek. Danny was also predeceased by his brother, Walter. The family would also like to acknowledge Lisa Snyder Borkoski and Daniel Rice for their love and support.
Danny graduated from Patterson Park High School in 1969, and went on to BCCC to study Physical Education. He had a long career as a plate maker in the printing industry. This would take him from the News American in Baltimore, Maryland, to the National Wildlife Federation in Winchester, Virginia, to Atlantic Hastings in Cambridge, Maryland. The electronic age and desktop publishing made it necessary to change direction, so he got his CDL and began travelling the country in a 53ft tractor trailer, until he retired at the age of 62.
Danny had two passions. His family was always first and foremost. The other was his love for scuba diving. He began diving in the 70’s; mostly off Ocean City, Maryland, but he would also travel the coast from New Jersey to the Florida Keys, and, occasionally, the Caribbean. Then, in 1990, he acquired his Captain’s license and started his own business, “To Dive For” Scuba Charters, LLC. Soon he would move north to Indian River Marina in Delaware, where he continued his charter business until just a few years ago.
