DONNA GORDY HUSTON

Donna Gordy Huston, 76, went home to her Lord and Savior on the morning of Thursday, December 29, 2022.  She was born on November 22, 1946, to the late Walter J. and Pauline H. Gordy of Laurel, Delaware.

Donna graduated from Laurel High School in 1964 and continued her education at Goldey Beacom School of Business.  On her twenty-first birthday in 1967, Donna married James R. Huston at Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel, DE.  She began her career as a medical secretary for Dr. Ellis and Dr. Adiarte, and later was employed in various positions at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. In 1985, Donna transitioned her career and joined her husband in Huston Appraisal Company.. She became a state certified residential real property appraiser and was also a licensed real estate agent with Callaway, Farnell and Moore, Inc. in Seaford, retiring in 2017.

Donna was an avid bridge player for over forty years, playing with both a ladies’ and a couples’ group. She enjoyed traveling and boating with her husband and many friends over the years. Donna was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Seaford and served the church in many ways including teaching Sunday School, providing child care, performing in the bell choir, and participating in the Congregational Care Team. Donna remained very active throughout her life and enjoyed walking, swimming, playing tennis, and aerobics.

In addition to her parents, Donna was also preceded in death by her brother, Willey Jay Gordy, of Felton, Delaware. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of fifty-five years, James, of Seaford, DE; her son, Stephen R. Huston (Donna) of Seaford, DE; her daughter, Marie Parietti, of Richmond, VA; her sister-in-law, Carol Huston, of Seaford, DE; her sister-in-law, Joyce Gordy (nephews Wesley and Wade Gordy) of Felton, DE; four grandchildren, Russell Parietti, Robert Parietti, Matthew Parietti, and Abigail Huston.

Services will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Seaford, Delaware, on January 4, 2023.  Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. with a service to begin at 1:00.  Her final resting place will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford.  Arrangements are being provided by Cranston Funeral Home in Seaford, Delaware.
