DONALD HARLAN Obituary

Donald Eugene Harlan passed away on November 04, 2022, at his home in Laurel, Delaware.  Don was born on 2 November, 1942, in Oklahoma City, OK.

He was the son of Leon Harlan and Goldie Payne who hailed from Oklahoma and California.  Don was a loving father of his daughter Katherine Dee Harlan and son Michael Harlan.

Don was a proud member of the U.S. Navy for four years in the early 1960s when he served as a member of catapult crews aboard the USS John Hancock carrier off the Gulf of Tonkin.   After growing up in Oklahoma City, OK, and Keyes, CA, Don lived mostly in Sacramento, CA where he raised his family. Don retired from a long career in the Department of Defense as an Air Force Civil servant in the mid 1990s in Sacramento, California.   After retirement, Don moved to be closer to his son in a small town in Delaware where he enjoyed quiet living.

Don loved baseball.  He supported the San Francisco Giants and later adopted the Baltimore Orioles. He loved electronic gadgets, military history, and science fiction.  He could name the year, make, and model of any car on the road or plane in the air made before 1990. He was affectionately known as "Don," "Baba Don," and "Hoagie."

Don suffered the loss of his then divorced wife Barbara Ann Lowe in 2000.  He is survived by his son, Michael, daughter-in-law Kimberlee, and granddaughter Allison.

Graveside services will be held on December 14, 2022, at 1PM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware.
