CHARLES A GREENE

Charles Alfred Greene, “Little Hank, Hot Dog”, age 78, went to be with the Lord peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 23, 2021. He was born August 6, 1942, the son of George E. Greene “Hank” (deceased), and Hilda McClain Greene (deceased). He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his children Charlotte Baker, Kelly Greene, and Kevin Greene.  Grandchildren Jennifer Mullins and Dennis Mullins. Godchildren Miranda Lee, Morgan Hernandez, and Rebekah Warrington. His siblings include Julia Willey (deceased), Joyce Newcomb, Marvin Greene (deceased), and Irita Greene (deceased). His half siblings include Janie Cannon, AL, Irita Adcock, AL, Norma Acton, AL, George Greene, AL, Charles Greene, MO, and John Greene, AL. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Greene lived a long and diverse life.  He began playing the Bass at the age of 11 and went on the road traveling in a rock and roll band at age 16, also attending the Peabody School of Music.  He had the privilege of playing with some great artist throughout the country including Little Richard, Wanda Jackson, and Conway Twitty. He settled down in Blades, DE. met and married the love of his life, his “Dumpling” Bonnie, having two kids Kelly and Kevin.  He gave himself to the Lord and continued to play Bass in numerous churches throughout the years. He worked at Dupont, was an electrician, and retired from the Cape May Lewes Ferry and served on the Blades Town Counsel. He obtained his GED at the age of 53 and attended Christian World College of Theology obtaining an Associate of Ministry degree.  He officiated numerous Weddings and Funerals, however, overcoming multiple health issues himself, his passion was for Hospital visitation of the sick and elderly.  He never met a stranger and was famous for his “Hugs”. God gained and Angel and he will be missed by many.

Services will be held January 30, 2021, viewing 11-12, services at 12, at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd, Georgetown, DE 19947.  Masks and Social distancing required.
