Beatrice Elizabeth Willey Short, affectionately known as “Bea” by her family and friends, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 105. Born on September 9, 1919, to Howard and Bessie Willey, Bea lived a long and full life, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.
On April 9, 1939, Bea married Cleveland “Specks” Short, and they shared 67 wonderful years together before his passing in 2006. Together, they built a loving family and a life filled with enduring love and companionship.
Bea dedicated 25 years to the Bridgeville School Cafeteria, serving from 1956 to 1981. Known for her warm heart and kind spirit, she was an avid reader and a devoted fan of soap operas, enjoying the simple pleasures that brought her joy throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cleveland; her son; her son-in-law; her sister; her grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
Bea is survived by her sister Joyce Warrington, her daughter Sharon Beauchamp, her daughter-in-law Barbara Short, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Bea’s final wishes, private services will be held to honor her memory.
Her family celebrates the extraordinary life she lived and the countless lives she touched during her 105 years. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
