Barbara Allan Obituary

Barbara Allan was called heavenward by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 10th, 2022.  She was born on December 12th, 1929 the daughter of Russell and Lois (Calvert) Moore.  Barbara graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and had a lifelong love of music and entertaining.  After college she married David Allan, with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage in July, 2022.  Around the time her oldest child (David) entered High School, Barbara went back to school and received a Bachelors Degree in Library Science.  She then worked as School Librarian for 16 years at Philadelphia Montgomery Christian Academy in Erdenheim, PA.  She became interested in conservative politics in the early 1960s and remained deeply involved throughout her life.  Barbara served nearly 20 years as an Election Monitor in North Carolina.  Barbara was a Quester and at one time was President of the Philadelphia Chapter of Questers International. She was also a Master Rug Hooker.  She created natural dyes using  plants to dye her own wool.  She was very talented and created many beautiful pieces over the years, that she shared with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband David Allan Jr., three sons David III (Amy), Douglas (Debbie), and Scott (Dolly), 9 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, Dorothy Frank. 

A memorial service for Dave and Barbara will be held at Bayview Baptist Church, 534 E Fourth St, Laurel, DE 19956 on September 17th at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Veterans cause of your choice in his name.
