BEN A. PETERSON, JR

Ben A. Peterson Jr. of Seaford passed away on July 24, 2020.  He was born June 8, 1938, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  He attended Seaford High School and graduated from Sanford Preparatory School in Wilmington and was a U S Navy veteran.  Ben was a longtime member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church.

He was the son of the late Ben A. Peterson and Denise L. Peterson.  Ben is survived by his wife, Grace S. Peterson, of 57 years, a daughter Robin P. Matthews and a son, Allen P. Peterson, a brother, Erik B. (Rick) Peterson.  A special joy to his life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew and their families.

He had a 38 year career at the Dupont plant in Seaford, retiring in 1996.  An avid Lionel Train collector, he attended train shows both local and in York PA.  In retirement, car shows filled his weekends with his 57 chevy conv., “Baby,” where he won many trophies.  He was one of the early birds at Pizza King round table where all the problems of the world were resolved. He was upbeat and loved to make you laugh.

Ben’s family wants to give a special “Thanks” to the Allen Cancer Center staff for their attentive care for the last four years and Vitas Healthcare for their comfort care his last days.

A visitation will be held on July 31, from 6 to 8 pm. at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St. Seaford, DE 19973. A private service will be at a later date.
