Anna Louise Powell

Anna Louise Powell Smith 82 of Blades DE passed away on February10th 2023 in her sleep due to complications of pneumonia. She was born December13th 1940 in NJ, and later her family moved to Harrington - Greenwood area.

Her mother passed when she was around 8 and she was raised by her stepmother, and they were very close. Her father started a septic comp. called Powell and Son pumping out septic tanks and later installing them. She was one of 4 kids with 2 brothers Johnny and Sam Powell that lived in Harrington also a younger sister Beatrice which lived in Ohio. Louise lived in Blades for around 50 years on Market St. with Fred Smith Jr. and she help raise 2 stepsons of his 9 kids, Mark and Mike Smith, she also had a son Scott by Fred. Both were pillars of the Blades community and were well known for helping people out or for doing tree work through the years. Louise retired from Kim’s Manufacturer where she made kids clothing for years. She also was known for her cooking and had many dinners of chicken or beef dumplings or a rabbit dinner for the family through the years also baking cakes, fudge, and peanut butter balls for Christmas. She was also a long-time member of the Blades United Methodist Church.

A celebration of life will be on March 4th at 11am at her Church in Blades. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Blades United Methodist Church in care of her name.
