William Joseph Bourbeau, 90, of Seaford, Delaware passed away Thursday evening, May 31, 2018 at Harrison House Nursing Home.
He was born on March 12, 1928 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the son of Sylva and Leda Bourbeau (Leclair). He had 5 brothers and 2 sisters who all preceded him in death. He dearly loved his mother Leda, and spoke of her often. He retired after serving as a teacher/principal for 36 years in various states, Rhode Island, California, Hawaii, and Washington State. After retiring, he served 12 years as a Volunteer Senior Police Officer for the city of Carlsbad, California. He especially enjoyed being a part of the Color Guard for parades and community activities.
After retirement, Bill also enjoyed traveling on many cruises with family and friends. They traveled to Australia, Alaska, The Panama Canal, several Caribbean towns, several Mexican cities and Venice, Italy.
He was most recently a member of the Seaford Seventh-day Adventist Church. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Edna, daughters: Carolyn Zimmer (Steve), Lenae + Lori; 3 grandchildren: Ron (Jessica Vernon), Ronelle (Steve Smith) and Loree (Barry John) - and 6 great grandchildren, Jack, Anna, Nathan, Jena, Joseph, and Johnathan.
A "Celebration of Life" is planned for Saturday, July 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seaford Seventh-day Adventist Church, 26295 Sussex Hwy, Seaford, Delaware 19973.
In lieu of flowers, contribution can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
