William Herbert Newlon, age 92, of Seaford, DE passed away on May 11, 2018 at Crozer Chester Medical Center after a tragic accident.
Born in Wheeling, West Virginia he then moved to Baltimore, MD. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served as a Seaman Second Class on the USS Savannah in the Malta arena. He also served in the Merchant Marines. He retired from Anchor Motor Freight after 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eula “Mickey” Burkhamer Newlon. They resided in Glen Burnie, MD for 27 years. After retirement they moved to Delaware where they lived for 36 years.
Bill enjoyed fishing the Delaware Bay on his boat “Mickey II”, his dog, “Murphy” would hop on the front when Bill rode his motorcycle. He followed the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens games. Most of all he was an avid 10-pin bowler in which he bowled 11 strikes in a row for a 279 game.
He is also survived by a brother, Charles Newlon of Benwood, WV and was preceded in death by 5 sisters.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, May 17th at 11 AM at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford, where friends may call from 10 to 11. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park 7231 Ritchie Hwy, Glen Burnie, MD at 1:30.
