Robert (Bob) Albert Cross Jr, Age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at his home in Seaford, DE surrounded by his family. Bob was born August 12, 1945, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania to Robert Albert Cross and Beatrice Plunkett Cross. He was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School in 1963. He enlisted in The United States Army in 1966 and served as a Field Radio Operator. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was Honorably Discharged in 1972. He worked for Bell of Pennsylvania/Bell Atlantic/Verizon as a splicer’s helper, line man, splicer, splicing supervisor and outside plant engineer. He retired after 32 years of faithful service. Bob truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; golf, model trains, traveling, chicken cheesesteaks and telling all his stories to friends and family. He was a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan and attended the 1960 Eagles Championship, 2008 Phillies World Series and Victory Parade and the 2018 Eagles Super Bowl Victory Parade where he got a high “5” from Jason Peters. Bob had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way, earning him the title of “The King”. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, (née Woodcock) son, Robert B. Cross Sr (Meredith); grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Cross, Robert Brian Cross Jr., George Andrew Vowell, Matthew Tyler Vowell; his brother Tom Cross (Jane) his sister’s Angelina Knighten (Malcom) Teresa Cromwell; his fur babies, Jonathan and Bailey; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Robert Harry Cross. Family, friends, and others whose lives Bob touched are invited to the CRANSTON FUNERAL HOME, 300 N SHIPLEY ROAD, SEAFORD DE 19773, visitation will be at 10am and the memorial service will begin at 11am with full military honors.
