EUGENE E BURRIS

Eugene E. Burris, age 89, of Laurel, DE passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. 

          Eugene was born November 6, 1928, the son of the late David and Bessie Burris of Laurel.  He was also preceded in death by three of his four sisters, Katherine Goff, Betty Walls and Isabelle Ziegler.  His wife of 65 years, Pauline Hickman Burris passed away in 2013. 

          He is survived by 2 children, Gina Barker (Barry) of Florida and Treg Burris (Teri) of Laurel, 5 grandchildren, Katie Forbes of Florida, Gary Trout of Seaford, Ashley Joseph of Georgetown, Abbey Marvil of Laurel and Treggie Burris of Laurel, a sister, Bonnie Walters of Laurel.  Eugene also enjoyed his nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend and companion, Betty Pozsgay. 

          Eugene was a Korean War Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient.  He retired from the DuPont Company in Seaford in 1985 after 40 years of service.

          A celebration of Eugene’s life at Arlington National Cemetery will be forthcoming. 

          Eugene will be honored for his military service at the Laurel American Legion on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 2 PM.  Friends are invited to attend.
