Betty Massey, age 68, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2017 after a long illness.

          Betty was born in Laurel, DE on Feb. 24, 1949.  She graduate from Laurel High School in 1968.  She worked at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for many years prior to her illness.  She was a gentle, loving person who always put others before herself and loved all animals. 

          Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother, Roger and Florabelle Hawkins.  She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Preston Massey, a daughter and son in law, Janet and Rick Cook, two grandchildren that she loved dearly, Caitlin Cook and Coleman Cook, two sisters, Linda Johnson and Kay Culley and one brother, William “Bud” Hawkins.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

          The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Curtis Smith, Dr. Stephen Carey and the doctors and nurses at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for the many years of loving care that they gave her.

          Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 19th at 2 PM at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford, where friends may call from 1 to 2.  Burial will be in Blades Cemetery.
