Richard Evans Sr. Obituary

Richard Edward Evans, Sr., resident of the Manor House in Seaford, Delaware, entered eternal rest on February 24, 2024.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 3,1935, Richard was the son of the late Edward S. and Bessie I. Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon T. Evans, and sister, Rosalie Evans.

As small boy he attended Glenmount Elementary and would matriculate to West Nottingham Academy before attending the University of Baltimore School of Business subsequent to his service in the U.S. Army.

Richard is survived by his sister Betty Jean Smith, sons Dr., Christian Evans (Patti), Rev. Richard Evans, Jr. (Carol), and Jason Evans. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Matthew Evans (Katie), Dr. Katherine Shedlock (Aaron), Lauren Montero (Jerry), Steven Evans, Hope Beaghley (Andrew), Paige Evans, Zachary Evans, Madison Evans, Ella, Madeline and Calvin Shedlock, Jordan and Gabriel Montero, Seamus and August Beaghley, and Harper Evans as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard possessed an entrepreneurial spirit owning several companies including August Products Inc. a glass fabricator for Revlon Inc., the R.E. Company, a beverage distributor for Virginia Dare, Popular Club, and A-Treat Bottling Co. Richard also owned a Baltimore based franchise for Tasty Cake of Philadelphia.

He was a practical, yet soft hearted man who readily responded to others requiring a hand up or a kind word. A friend to everyone he met, Richard’s pleasant smile and caring generous nature will be greatly missed by all.

He enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, golf, bowling, and following both the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens Football teams.

A brief committal service will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 26669 Patriots Way Millsboro, DE 19966.
