Steven W Smith of Seaford, DE passed away Sunday June 18th in Seaford, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 56. Steve will be remembered for his kind and generous ways, and for his willingness to help others.

Steve was born in Seaford on April 27, 1961, and attended Seaford Senior High School where he graduated in 1979. After school, Steve went to work for Pic and Pay shoes and worked in North Carolina for a few years in the early 80's. Steve's love for his family and the Shore brought him back in the mid 80's, where he worked for Gerardi Brothers for six years. He worked for Scott's Furniture for the last 25 years, where many people knew Steve for his friendly demeanor and commitment to making each and every customer feel extra special. He continued to work until his illness forced him to go out on disability in October 2016. Steve enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, bike week in OC, his beloved Dallas Cowboys, and of course, the Orioles. But Steve's greatest joy were his grand kids, Kaylee, Tucker, Victoria, Yasmine, Rowan and Lance, whom affectionally referred to him as Pop-Pop.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mildred Smith, Jr. of Seaford and a brother, Timothy Smith of Laurel.

Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joann Porter Smith of Seaford, a son, Jason Smith and his wife Lindsey of Seaford and a daughter, Jessica Smith and fiancé Chris

Wagner of Laurel. A brother, David Smith, III and wife Pamela of Salisbury, brother Marty Smith and wife Michelle of Milton, DE and a sister, Cynthia Long of Cape Cod, MA.

His father and mother in law, Clarence and Pauline Porter of Federalsburg, MD, a sister and law, Darlene Bailey of Greenwood, DE, brother in laws Wayne Porter and wife Karla of Federalsburg and Jeff Porter and wife Linda of Greensboro, MD. Long-time cherished family friend, Brian Dorey whom Steve considered as another son. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and of course many valued friends.
