SHIRLEY ANN FOX

July 12, 1927 ~ December 31, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Shirley Ann Fox succumbed to the effects of Parkinson’s disease on December 31, 2015.  She was born to George and Florence Jacobsen in Spokane, WA on July 12, 1927. After marrying WWII Navy Veteran Robert L (Bob) Fox in 1945, they later moved to southern California where she worked as a waitress and Bob and his father owned a roofing company which did roof work for many of the Hollywood stars.  Shirley often described herself as being “star struck” as she got to see many of them in the restaurant where she worked and when she visited Bob on the job sites.  While living in Santa Monica, they had three children, David, Danny and Julie.  Later they all moved to Phoenix AZ where the kids grew up.  They also had a summer home in Oak Creek Canyon, AZ.  Shirley retired from Honeywell in Phoenix which had purchased the General Electric electronics division where she was employed.  She worked in a lab where she tested printed circuits. She was very proud of her career. After their retirement, she and Bob moved to Hauser Lake, ID.  Later, they relocated back to the Phoenix area until Bob’s death in 2005.  Shirley then moved to the Manor House in Seaford to be close to her daughter, Julie.  Shirley possessed one of the keenest senses of humor and endeared herself to many with her wit and mischievous grin. One of her favorite lines was when she heard “Surely, you jest.”  She would say “Don’t call me Shirley!” She loved traveling to new and interesting places with her family and reminiscing about her past.  In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her two sons, David and Danny Fox.  She is survived by her sister Georgia Krause of Lakewood, CA and brother Jack Jacobsen and his wife Annie of Clarkston, WA, daughter Julie Dobson and her husband Dan of Seaford, DE and her grandson Jerry Lucas and his daughter Breana Lucas of Rathdrum, ID and grandson Bob Fox and his wife Debbie of Mesa, AZ. , great grandchildren Lindsay and Brent Fox as well as granddaughter Sheila Kelly in Tennessee and sister in law Isla Fox MacFadean of Bakersfield CA. There will be a memorial service at the Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, DE 19973 on January 26th, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be next to her husband Bob at Greenway Memorial Gardens in Phoenix AZ at a yet undetermined date in the spring.
