Donald Charles “Butch” McMahon Sr, age 84, of Seaford, DE passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

          Donald was born in New York City on September 6, 1932, the son of the late Peter Francis McMahon and Gertrude Dianthia Freeman McMahon. He was also preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

          He attended Rice High School in New York City graduating in 1950. He graduated from Iona College in 1961 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration.  He served in the Navy in the Korean War.  He retired from DuPont in Seaford after 28 years as a Senior Cost Analyst.

          Don was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Seaford, where he sang in the church choir for many years.  He obtained 4th degree status and four time past Grand Knight while serving 40 years in the Knights of Columbus.  He was a member of the Seaford Moose Lodge #1728 with Legion status. 

          Butch was a family man, avid golfer and bowler.  He loved the theater and travel.

          He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Audrey M. Brumm McMahon, 3 children, Donald C. McMahon, Jr (Joanne), Jeanne M. Griffith and Kathleen Pallen, a brother, Russell “Buddy” McMahon, 2 sisters, Winnie Reichart and Jean Schmitz, 5 grandchildren, Audrey Carlisle (Ricky), Kyle McMahon, Debra Smullin (Chris), Aaron Pallen and Bryan Pallen, 4 great-grandchildren, Kayla Carlisle (Brandon), Ricky Carlisle, Jr, Hayden Carlisle and Adrianah Smullin and great-great-granddaughter, Brinleigh Mullins.

          Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at 11 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 515 E. Stein Hwy, Seaford.  Friends may call at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
