Don Haasen, Sr., age 77, passed away peacefully on August 25th.  He was at home and surrounded by family.

Originally from Baltimore, Don lived in Seaford, Delaware for 33 years.  He is survived by his wife Paulette (Filipkowski), also originally from Baltimore.

Don attended Mt. St. Joseph High School, and was an electrician by trade.  He worked at the Baltimore Koppers facility before moving to Seaford in 1984.  He retired from the Seaford Power Plant. His job was to bring light to others, but the love he had for his surviving wife, Paulette, is what brought light to his eyes.

His other passion in life was fishing, and he was happiest with a line in his hand, in the very early morning, at Phillips Landing in Seaford with his friends.  He was also an avid bird-watcher, with a yard full of feeders and birdhouses and flowers. 

He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Furletti (Michael) and Bridget Herbst (Carl), two sons, Mark Haasen (Sandy) and Don Haasen, Jr. (Karyn), 10 grandchildren, Gregory Furletti, Jennifer Furletti Airey (Jon), Leah Haasen, Mark Haasen Jr., Brian Haasen, Lacey Haasen, Carl Herbst Jr., Justin Herbst, John Roche (Jessica), and Dennis Roche, and 2 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Airey and Silas Haasen.  He is also survived by his two sisters, Lois Freeze and Myra Fine.
