Deborah L. O’Bier

Debbie Meredith O’Bier, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at her home on November 13, 2017.

Debbie was born on September 13, 1949 in Cambridge, MD, the daughter of the late John Monroe and Clara Meredith. She was a 1967 graduate of South Dorchester High School, and recently celebrated her 50th class reunion. She worked for the State of Delaware at the Shipley State Service Center in Seaford for over 20 years.

She enjoyed shopping excursions with her friends and spending time with her family. She was also well-known for her delicious kitchen creations. Debbie was also very active in the community with organizations such as the Acorn Club, was a past member of the Seaford Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed helping wherever she saw a need. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Randall O’Bier, Seaford, DE; mother-in-law Lois O’Bier, Seaford, DE; daughter Kathi Adams and her husband Glen, Seaford, DE; son Jeff O’Bier and his wife Lana, Manassas, VA; brother John M. Meredith, Jr., Worton, MD; sister-in-law Diane Meredith, Easton, MD; sister-in-law Elaine Noland and husband Mike, Anderson, SC; brother-in-law Mark O’Bier and wife Chris, Seaford, DE; grandchildren Derek and Logan Adams, Seaford, DE and Jesse and Lily O’Bier, Manassas, VA; her beloved canine companion Belle; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.

She never hesitated to help others, and will always be remembered as selfless, kind and never missing an opportunity to make others smile.

Friends and family may call on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 6 – 8 pm at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley Street, Seaford, DE.  Visitation will also be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 2 – 3 pm with the Celebration of Life Service starting at 3pm at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 2701 Woodland Ferry Road, Seaford, DE. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware SPCA at 455 Stanton Christiana Road, Newark, DE 19713 or via phone at 302-998-2281.
